Submarine volcano is in activity? Smoke rising from the sea and clouding water near the South Iwo Jima Island.
At around 7:45 am Feb 3, 2010, the 3rd Regional Coast Guard Headquarters boat confirmed the smoke rising from the sea by volcanic activity in the area near South Iwo Jima island (Ogasawara Village, Tokyo, Japan), about “1300kms” from central Tokyo to the south in the Pacific Ocean.
After 1:00 pm, the Coast Guard helicopter reconfirmed turbid water was yellowish green.
The scene is the undersea volcano called Fukutoku-Okanoba where is about five kms North-northeast of the South Iwo Jima island.
In years 1904, 1914 and 1986, new volcanic islands have appeared and then disappeared.
